Group Description
There are over 4000 different species of Beetle in the UK making up the largest insect group in the UK.
There are 53 species of Lady bird that have ever been recorded in the UK. Of these, 6 are introduced and another 5 are now extinct or occasional. Another species which was thought to be extinct was rediscovered in 2000 but they exist as immigrants along the South coast of England. And a very small colony which was found in Devon in 2011. So there are 48 species in the UK. 42 native species currently living in the UK of which 41 are common-ish.
