Species Description

Widespread but scarce and local in the South, mainly below a line running from York down to South Wales. Habitat includes: woodland, copses, hedgerows, gardens, parks, allotments, churchyards etc. Length: 7 - 15 mm. Life story: Larvae develop within King Alfred's Cakes (Daldinia concentrica). Flight period: Spring to Autumn (peaks June / July). Other names include: Scarce Fungus Weevil, Resin Weevil.
