Species Description
Common and widespread in the South, scattered and scarce in the North. Habitat includes: Flower-rich places such as meadows, roadside verges, wasteland, scrub, gardens, parks, allotments, churchyards etc. Seen: April to August. Length: 5.5 - 6 mm. Life story: The adults predate other small insects on flowers and grasses. The Female lays her eggs in cracks in the bark of trees. The larvae hatch and hunt other smaller insects living under the loose bark. Other names include: Malachite Beetle.
