Species Description
Fairly common and widespread throughout England and Wales. Habitat includes: gardens, parks, allotments, cemeteries, woodland rides, meadows, orchards etc. Length: 8 - 10 mm. Flight period: April to September. Life story: Nests in holes, existing cavities in dead wood and plant stems, rocks, and mud walls. The female deposits her egg, adds food for the larvae, builds a small wall out of chewed leaves, and then creates the next chamber - where she will deposit the next egg.
