Species Description
Widespread and fairly frequent in the Southern half of the UK and scattered in the North. It is under-recorded. Habitat includes: Places with dense undergrowth such as brambles e.g. roadside verges, hedgerows, woodland rides and clearings, scrub, wasteland, gardens, parks, allotments, churchyards etc. Life story: Parasitises moth larvae. Diet: Pollen, mainly from Umbellifers such as Hogweed. Flight period: 2 generations per year (May to July, October to November). Length: 12 - 16 mm.
