Species Description
Widespread and fairly frequent throughout the UK but absent from much of the East. As a native it is local but most records are of garden escapes. Habitat includes: Hedgerows, wet woodland, stream sides, fen-carr, gardens, parks, allotments, churchyards etc. Height: Up to 1.5 m. Flowers: April to May. Growing habit: Deciduous Perennial. First recorded in Britain by 1568.
