Species Description

Ulex europaeus Other names include: Gorse, Furse, Whin (originally thought to be a Scandinavian word). Fingers-and-thumbs, French-fuzz, Honey-bottle.

Ulex galii. Other names include: Dwarf furze, Western gorse, Bed-furze, Cat-whin and Cornish fuzz. This species belong more to the west and to Ireland and will not tolerate lime in the soil.

Ulex minor Other names include: Dwarf Furze or Dwarf Gorse. Belongs more to the south-eastern counties, East Anglia and the home counties.
