Species Description
Habitat: Almost anywhere with calcareous soils such as gardens (often in compost heaps), parks, allotments, cemeteries, grassland, woodland, hedgerows. Seen all year round. Feeds on decaying matter. Length: 18 mm. Can cope with drier conditions than most other Myriapods. Females develop a brood pouch, fertilised eggs pass through into this pouch and remain there until they are fully developed and then hatch out.
