Species Description
Common and widespread in the South but scattered further north into parts of Southern Scotland. One of the commonest bush cricket to be seen in the UK and is expanding its range further North. Habitat includes: woodland margins, hedgerows, scrub, gardens, parks, allotments, cemeteries etc. Life story: eggs are laid into tree bark / plant stems in late summer where they remain over winter before emerging in May to June and maturing as adults by mid August. Diet: leaves / flowers of various plants. Length: 10 - 20 mm (+ another 10 mm for ovipositor in Females). Adults seen from late July to November.
