Species Description

Common and widespread throughout the UK. Habitat includes: anywhere with dung e.g. farmland, allotments, gardens etc. Diet: carnivorous - catches smaller insects, also eats nectar. Lays eggs mainly on cow pats. Flight period: March to November.
