Species Description
Common and widespread throughout the UK. Habitat includes: hay meadows, grassland, downland, heathland, coasts, undercliffs, field margins, woodland rides, hedgerows, roadside verges, wasteland, gardens, parks, allotments, churchyards etc. Food plant: A wide selection of grasses such as Fescues (Festuca spp.), Bents (Agrostis spp.), Meadow-grasses (Poa spp.), Cock's- foot (Dactylis glomerata), Downy Oat-grass (Helictotrichon pubescens), False Brome (Brachypodium sylvaticum). Flight period: June to September. Wingspan: 50 - 55 mm.
