Species Description
Widespread but local in the South. It is spreading North. Habitat includes: Anywhere sun-exposed with a good flower supply; mainly on Alkaline, clay-based to sandy soils in places such as gardens, parks, allotments, churchyards, field margins, hedgerows, scrub, woodland, roadside verges, old quarries, wasteland etc. Life story: Flight period - Bivoltine (March to May (sometimes June), June (sometimes July) to September). It is the host of the Painted Nomad Bee (Nomada fucata) and the Dotted Bee-fly (Bombylius discolor).
