Species Description
Widespread and fairly frequent throughout England, being less so elsewhere. Habitat includes: gardens, meadows, hedgerows, churchyards, parks, allotments etc. Length: 10 - 18 mm. Flight period: May to September. Females visit the nests of various solitary bee and wasp species and pushes her ovipositor into the nest, laying her eggs on or near the eggs of the host. When they hatch they will feed on the grubs and the stored food.
