Common and widespread throughout the UK but very under recorded. Habitat includes: Places with still, fresh water such as ponds (especially farmyard), lakes, ditches sometimes found in horse manure etc. Length: Up to 15 cm. Diet: Midge larvae, Snails, Earthworms etc.
