Widespread throughout England, Wales and parts of Scotland and Ireland. Habitat includes: Grassy places sch as roadside verges, railway banks, hedge banks, woodland edge, gardens, parks, allotments, churchyards etc. Growing habit: Rhizomatous Perennial. First cultivated by 1629, recorded in the wild since 1820. Native to: Italy, Sicily, Southern Balkans.
