Stems to 40cm, procumbent to decumbent; leaves 1-3cm, opposite, ovate to broadly so, glabrous; flowers solitary in leaf-axils; corolla 5-8mm, yellow, glabrous with 5 lobes; capsule opening by 5 valves; 2n=16, 18. Native; woods and copses; throughout most of British Isles.
