Species Description
Widespread in England and Wales but uncommon. It is scattered in parts of Scotland. Habitat includes: Disturbed, damp, shady places on calcareous soils such as woodland edges, rides, clearings, scrub, hedgerows, ditch-sides, stream / river banks, quarries, wasteland, roadside verges, railway banks, field margins etc. Height: Up to 1.5 m. Flowers: August to September. Growing habit: Biennial. It is in decline due to change in land management.
