Species Description

Widespread throughout the UK but mainly in the South and West, being absent from the far South, far North, parts of the East, North Eastern and parts of Southern Scotland. Habitat includes: Grassy places such as pasture, grassland, meadows, roadside verges, wasteland, arable land, coasts etc. Flowers: Autumn. Height: up to 50cm. ID: Upright stature. Number of branches vary between 2 to 8, sometimes none and held at >49° to the main stem. The lowest flower occurs at the 8th - 14th node. Between 2 to 7 pairs of intercalary leaves.
