Species Description

Common and widespread throughout the UK.

Stace 4:

Ssp. fertilis (Lawalrée ex Laegaard) Stace (Ranunculus ficaria var. fertilis A.R. Clapham nom. nud., ssp. fertilis Lawalrée ex Laegaard).

Tubers not formed in leaf axis; full head of ripe achenes usually produced; achenes mostly 2.5-3.5 x 1.7-2.2mm; petals mostly 10-20 x 4-9mm; 2n=16 (diploid); mean no. chloroplasts per stomatal guard-cell about 13-17. Native; throughout British Isles.
