Widespread but scarce and local. It is in decline. Most common in the South. Habitat includes: calcareous soils and rocky ground beside hedges, woodland edge, rocky scrubland, grassland, scree, riversides, quarries. Growing habit: Rhizomatous Perennial. Height: Up to 80 cm. Flowers: June to July. Other names include: European Stone-seed. Grey Millet.
