Species Description
Common and widespread throughout the UK. Habitat includes: Cultivated / disturbed places such as gardens, parks, allotments (manure heaps), cemeteries, road side verges, farmyards, sewage works, walls, coasts, wasteland etc. also frequently grows at the base of tree trunks (probably due to the high Nitrogen levels from Dog pee). Other names include: Chickweed, Chickenwort, Craches, Maruns, winterweed. Identification: 5 petals (each split into 2), 3 styles. Annual / short-lived Perennial.
