Species Description
Tenuis group. Frequent. Probably C. polyedra or C. trevirorum. Possibly the same as this - labelled as var. densifolia and this - BSBI Herbaria United - var. stenocarpa-coronopifolia and this and this - labeled as C. densifolia and this. Also looks similar to C. patagonica but capsules the wrong shape. Looks very similar to C. belgica and C. bremensis.
And looks similar to var. macrocarpa and this.
Also similar to C. rhombea (p. 59 and 60) and C. polyedra (p. 64).
Basal leaves pinnate and complexely lobed. Terminal lobe elliptic, Lateral lobes asymmetric, angled, kyphotic, humped at base, blunt at apex; petiole suffused purple upon exposure but remaining whitish-green in shade and long grass. Sepals glabrous to sparsely hairy, green suffused brown with white margins. Petals exceeding sepals by about 1/4. Capsules wedge-shaped, longer than wide, c. 7 x 5 mm with slightly convex margins, becoming nearly parallel at the lobe turning point with a more or less truncate top, notch blunt and shallow, style leveling it, green suffusing bronze in sun. Pedicels longer than capsules, spreading patent to erecto-patent. Stem flexuouse, the lateral branches wide angled and often growing almost laterally and bending down at the tip; hairy at the base with only very sporadic stellate hairs further up. Stem leaves narrow simple and folded, c. 3 - 4 cm x 4 mm. Auricles c. 6 mm and acute. Stem angled, c. 3 mm diameter at the very base and c. 2 mm at the base of the main spike.
