Species Description
Was once very common as an arable weed but has declined rapidly since 1930 and is now rare, due to the introduction of pesticides and intensive farming-modernisation. Habitat includes: Arable land, disturbed sites such as rubbish tips, roadside verges, waste ground, over-grazed pasture. Introduced in ancient times with grain. Other names include: Corn daisy. History: Its original home is probably western Asia and the Mediterranean. It has been discovered in Scottish neolithic deposits, so probably arrived with the neolithic introduction of agriculture 10,000 years ago.
