Species Description

Scattered throughout the UK as planted. Habitat includes: parks, gardens etc. Height: Up to 10 m. It is a cultivar of our native Ash (Fraxinus excelsior) which became available from nurseries in the mid-18th century. All individuals descend from a single tree found in the parish of Gamlingay, Cambridgeshire. The tree is very small and is often grafted onto Ash (F. excelsior) to create a taller, clear trunk with upper pendulous branches.
