Species Description

Widespread but only common in the Midlands and Eastern England. Habitats include: parks, woodland, Hedgerows, marshland, ponds, canals, river/stream sides etc. Pussy Willow, Common Sallow, Rusty Sallow. Dioecious (Male and Female on separate plants). Food plant for many Caterpillars including the Sallow Kitten, Sallow Clearwing, Dusky Clearwing, Lunar Hornet clearwing, Purple Emperor Butterfly. Height: 4 - 6 m.
