Species Description
A local endemic to north-east Somerset around Hunstrete, Woollard, Compton Dando and Brislington. Discovered by D. Fry in 1892 when he "observed a marked variation [of R. rubritinctus] near Woollard and at Brislington." It was named initially R. erythrinus var. argenteus and then described in 1930 by W.R. Watson but strangely it doesn't appear in his masterpiece - Rubi of Great Britain and Ireland. It differs from the clearly related R. rubritinctus in having less abruptly acuminate and generally longer-tipped leaflets and duller coloured stems, petioles and petiolules which are much more obviously hairy.
