Species Description

A mostly northern species, now considered by some to be the same as R. transmarinus - a southern species but Rob Randall kept them separate and having seen photos taken by him and trust worthy specimens, there's no comparison they are completely different - R. intensior is significantly more densely prickled than R. halsteadensis both on the primocanes and the rachis. In R. intensior the armature more obviously grades into one another (like a Hystrices) whereas in R. halsteadensis this is not so much the case and the bases are more prominent and slightly bulbous - not the case with R. intensior. Also in R. intensior they seem to be more patent whereas in R. halsteadensis they are slightly more slanting.
