Species Description
Fairly common and widespread throughout the UK though more so in the Southern half. Habitat includes: garden (particularly Urban gardens), parks, allotments, woodland, hedgerows, fens, heathland moorland. Wingspan= 25-30mm. Flight period: July to September/October (South). Males fly during the day, Females are wingless. Life cycle: Eggs are layed on Females old cocoon. Caterpillars are very hairy.
