Species Description
Common and widespread throughout the UK. Habitat includes: gardens, parks, allotments, churchyards, wasteland, hedgerows, woodland, coasts etc. Flight period: April to October (2 - 3 broods / year). Wingspan: 18 - 25 mm. Life story: Larvae can be seen from June to late October sometimes November and overwinter as pupae. Diet: Larva = various Cruciferae such as Garlic Mustard (Alliaria petiolata), Shepherd’s-purse (Capsella bursa-pastoris), Horse-radish (Armoracia rusticana), Hairy Bitter-cress, Yellow / White Alyssum, cultivated cabbages.
