Species Description
Common and widespread throughout the UK but more so in the Southern half. Habitat includes: gardens, parks, allotments, churchyards, hedgerows, roadside verges, heathland, moorland, woodland etc. Food plant: Gorse, Holly. Flight period: two generations a year (sometimes 3 in milder areas where individuals have been noted in December or January) - April to May and August. Wingspan: 15 - 19 mm.
