Species Description
Common and widespread throughout the UK but mainly in the South. Habitat includes: Open, flower-rich places such as gardens, parks, allotments, churchyards, wasteland, meadows, roadside verges, railway banks, coasts etc. Flight period: April to November (Peaks - July to Augusts). Life story: Breeds in polluted / eutrophic waters such as temporary ponds, cow manure, farmyard drains, ditches etc.
