Common and widespread throughout the UK. Habitat includes: anywhere with carrion e.g. road side verges, gardens, parks, allotments, church yards, meadows, woodland, grassland, coasts, mountains. Length= 10-14mm. Lays up to 300 eggs on carrion or fresh carrion open wounds. Flight period: All year round but mainly seen from April to November.
