Species Description
Widespread and fairly frequent in the Southern half of the UK. Length: 4.5 - 8 mm. Life story: The larvae are parasitic on Microlepidoptera caterpillars such as Anthophila fabriciana (Nettle-tap) but also oecophorids, tortricids, pyralids, noctuids and the nymphalid butterflies: Aglais io (Peacock) and Polygonia c-album (Comma). Flight period: May to October. Habitat includes: woodland, hedgerows, scrub etc.
