Species Description

Common and widespread throughout the UK. Habitat includes: gardens, parks, allotments, cemeteries, hedgerows, woodland, road side verges, meadows. Length= 9mm. Flight period is from May until August. Larvae feed on decaying organic matter. Adults feed on flowers particularly Common Hogweed.
