Species Description

Widespread and scattered on the western side of the UK, being most common in the Bristol Region (particularly the Avon Gorge) and scattered elsewhere. Found along coasts throughout Ireland but mainly in the South. Habitat includes: well-drained base-rich rocky substrates in places such as sheltered limestone cliffs, old quarry faces, castle walls (built of limestone), old mortared walls, trees (epiphyte), roadside verges, railway banks etc. Growing habit: Rhizomatous Perennial. Other names include: Limestone Polypody, Welsh Polypody.
