Species Description
Widespread throughout the UK especially around coasts. Habitat includes: wetland, salt marsh, mud flats, estuaries, coasts, farmland, grassland, flood plains. Diet: Muscles, cockles, worms. Population: Breeding= 110,000 pairs, Wintering= 340,000 birds birds are increasingly moving inland looking for food due to overexploited seas for muscles and cockles. Length: 40-45cm, Wing span: 80-86cm. Weight: 430-650g.
