Species Description

Widespread but local and mainly restricted to coasts in the southern half of the UK, becoming more scattered inland. Habitat includes: Sandy places such as coastal grasslands, soft-rock cliffs, heathland, sandpits etc. Life story: Nesting occurs in sandy open ground such as well-trodden footpaths. Pollen is taken from various yellow Asteraceae including Cat's-ear, Hawk's-beard's etc. Flight period: June to August. Parasites: Nomada similis.
