Bi-annual Cut

Site's are cut over a two year cycle - half is cut one year (leaving the other long) switching the next. This two year rotation maintains both floral richness and high invertebrate levels. Many species which would otherwise be destroyed and perform badly in an annual cut regime (such as butterflies and moths) are able to remain permanent rather than having to recolonise each year.
