Species Description

A rare and sporadic casual arising from birdseed but also sometimes grown in gardens and escapes. Native to the Mediterranean.

Stace 4:

Visnaga daucoides Gaertn. (Ammi visnaga (L.) Lam.) - Toothpick-plant.

Stems erect, to 1m; lower leaves 1-2-pinnate; upper leaves 2-3(4)-pinnate; all leaves with linear to filiform segments; fruits 2-2.8mm; (2n=20, 22). Neophyte-casual; in same habitats and from same sources as Ammi majus but rarer; scattered in Britain North to East Ross, Guernsey; Mediterranean.
