Acorus calamus L. - Sweet-flag.

Leaves 50-125 x 0.7-2.5cm, with well-defined midrib, usually transversely wrinkled in places; spadix 5-9 x 0.6-1.2cm, yellowish-green; 2n=about 36 (18, 24, 36, 42, 44, 45). Neophyte-naturalised; in shallow water at edges of lakes, ponds, rivers and canals; scattered over most of British Isles, but frequent only in England; Asia and North America. Often shyly flowering and fruits not reported.
