Species Description
A native of North America which is sometimes grown in gardens. It has the potential to be a casual or garden throw out. There are no records in Britain but I have recorded it myself under a patch of trees about 2 m outside of the gardens backing onto it. It was probably dumped or purposely planted a long time ago. Other names include: Downy Yellow Violet. Flowers: Early spring through to the Autumn, producing chasmogamous (flowers in the spring) and cleistogamous flowers (summer and Autumn).
