Species Description

Widely grown in gardens and sometimes occurs as a throwout.

Stace 4:

Bistorta affinis (D. Don) Greene (Persicaria affinis (D. Don) Ronse Decr., Polygonum affine D. Don) - Rockery Bistort.

Stems erect, mostly simple, to 35cm; stolons leafy, mat-forming; leaves cuneate at base; petioles not winged; flowers pink; inflorescences dense, mostly 1 per stem. Neophyte-naturalised; cultivated in gardens, naturalised in grassy and rough places; scattered in Britain, Isle of Man; Himalayas.
