Species Description

Scattered in the Southern half of the UK. Habitat includes: disturbed places such as gardens, rubbish tips, wasteland, arising from wool shoddy, tan-bark etc. Growing habit: Perennial. Height: Up to 60 cm. Other names include: Low Amaranth, Argentina Amaranth, Large-fruit Amaranth. Cultivated in Britain since 1805. It was known from the wild in 1874. It is native to South America.
