Species Description
Widespread but local in the South becoming very scattered in Scotland as a casual. Habitat includes: roadside verges, grassland, wasteland, allotments, railway banks, coasts, quarries, sand pits etc. Growing habit: Biennial. Flowers: June to September. Height: Up to 1.5 m. Other names include: Red-sepal Evening Primrose. Cultivated in Britain by 1858, recorded from the wild in 1866.
