Species Description
Widespread and scattered throughout the Southern half of the UK. It is widely grown and sometimes escapes. Habitat includes: Disturbed places often near to habitation such as roadside verges, track-sides, wasteland, spoil heaps, railway banks, sand dunes etc. Growing habit: Wintergreen Biennial. Height: Up to 2 m. Flowers: June to September. Came into cultivation in Britain in 1818 and was first recorded from the wild in West Gloucestershire in 1909. Other names include: Showy Mullein.
