Species Description
A native of Italy; sometimes grown and planted in parks as the robust, early-flowering cultivar 'De Jagers'. It was formerly included as a subspecies of C. imperati but differs in having only one bract as opposed to two and has less well-defined markings on the outer tepals. It is also very similar to C. biflorus but that has the corm covering splitting horizontally rather than vertically, broader stripes on the outside of the perianth and lacks the yellowish buff colour with it. Other names include: Fragrant Crocus.
