Species Description
Widespread and fairly frequent throughout the UK. Habitat includes: gardens (lawns), parks, allotments, churchyards, wasteland, roadside verges, railway banks, lawns etc. Other names include: Orange Hawkweed. Orang Hawkbit, Devil's Paintbrush, Grim-the-collier. Growing habit: Stoloniferous Perennial. Height: Up to 60 cm. Flowers: June to August. Cultivated in gardens by 1629 and first recorded in the Wild by 1793. Two subspecies occur: subsp. aurantiaca, subsp. carpathicola. Native range: European Boreal-montane.
