Species Description

Widespread and scattered throughout the South. It is locally common to Western Cornwall. Habitat includes: Mild areas in places such as bulb fields, field margins, roadside verges, rough ground etc. Growing habit: Cormous Perennial. Height: Up to 1 m. Other names include: Common Corn-flag. Introduced from S. Europe by 1596. It is usually a persistent relic of cultivation and was first recorded in the wild in 1862.
