Species Description
Widespread and scattered throughout the UK, being fairly frequent but patchy in the South running along a line from the North of London to Bristol, and on the West North from Worcester to Lancaster, continuing across to the North-East Coast of England; and Southern and Eastern Scotland. Habitat includes: roadside verges, pond margins, river banks etc. Growing habit: Perennial. Height: Up to 1.5 m. Flowers: July to August. Introduced to British gardens in 1823 and was first recorded as naturalised by a roadside at Glenridding, Ullswater (Cumberland) in 1915.
