Species Description
Widespread and locally common throughout the Southern half of the UK, becoming rare and local in the North. Habitat includes: marshes, stream-sides, ditches, dykes and rhynes etc. Growing habit: Perennial. Height: Up to 1 m. Flowers: June to October.

Plant straggling, decumbent to ascending, to 1m, glabrous below, with abundant glandular hairs above; leaves ovate, cordate at base; petals longer than sepals, bifid almost to base; 2n=28. Native; marshes, ditches and banks of water-courses; fairly common in England and Wales North to County Durham, naturalised in Central Scotland, Isle of Man and Channel Islands.
